Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 bone-in pork chops, about 1-inch thick (about 900g total)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (15ml)
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika (2g)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (1.5g)
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder (1.5g)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (3g)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper (0.5g)
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme (0.5g)
  • 2 medium apples, peeled and diced (about 300g)
  • 1/2 medium yellow onion, finely diced (about 100g)
  • 3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar (45ml)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar (25g), packed
  • 1 tablespoon water (15ml)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (1g)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger (0.5g)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Pat the pork chops dry with paper towels. Let them sit on the counter for about 10 minutes to take the chill off.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and dried thyme. Drizzle the pork chops with olive oil, then rub the seasoning mixture all over both sides.
  3. Place a small saucepan over medium heat. Add diced apples, finely diced onion, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, water, cinnamon, ginger, and a pinch of salt. Stir together and bring to a gentle simmer. Reduce heat to medium-low and cook, stirring occasionally, for about 12-15 minutes until apples are tender and the liquid is thick and jammy.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3-5 minutes.
  5. Place the seasoned pork chops in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook at 400°F (200°C) for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through at the 5-6 minute mark. Internal temperature should reach 145°F (63°C).
  6. Transfer the pork chops to a plate and let them rest for 5 minutes.
  7. Spoon a generous amount of warm apple chutney over each pork chop and serve immediately.

Notes

For best results, use bone-in pork chops about 1-inch thick. If using boneless chops, reduce cook time to 8-10 minutes. Let the chutney cool slightly before serving to allow flavors to meld. Season the pork chops ahead of time (up to 30 minutes) for better browning. Don’t overcrowd the air fryer; cook in batches if needed.
