This punch is a cozy, crowd-pleasing holiday drink made with apple cider, bourbon, and maple syrup. It’s quick to prepare and perfect for Friendsgiving gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups (960 ml) apple cider
  • 1 cup (240 ml) bourbon (e.g., Maker’s Mark or Buffalo Trace)
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) real maple syrup (Grade A dark amber)
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) fresh lemon juice
  • 3–4 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 teaspoon whole cloves
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the apple cider, cinnamon sticks, and whole cloves. Warm over medium heat until steaming but not boiling, about 5 minutes.
  2. Pour the warm cider through a fine-mesh strainer into a large pitcher or punch bowl to remove the spices. Discard the solids.
  3. Add the bourbon and stir gently with a wooden spoon.
  4. Add the maple syrup and stir until fully dissolved.
  5. Add the fresh lemon juice and stir to combine. Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness if needed.
  6. Chill the punch in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes (or up to 24 hours).
  7. Slice the orange into thin rounds for garnish.
  8. Fill glasses with ice cubes, pour the punch over the ice, and garnish with an orange slice.

Notes

For a non-alcoholic version, swap the bourbon for extra apple cider and add 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. To keep the punch cold without diluting, use an ice ring made from apple cider and orange slices. The punch tastes even better after a few hours in the fridge.
