A quick and easy spiked apple cider made with cinnamon whiskey, perfect for cozy fall nights. Ready in under 10 minutes with simple ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups (960 ml) apple cider
  • 46 oz (120180 ml) cinnamon whiskey (e.g., Fireball or Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Fire)
  • 23 cinnamon sticks
  • 46 orange slices (optional)
  • 23 star anise pods (optional)
  • 12 tbsp honey or maple syrup (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pour the apple cider into a medium saucepan and heat over medium-high until it reaches a gentle simmer (small bubbles around the edges).
  2. Add the cinnamon sticks and optional star anise and orange slices. Reduce heat to low and let simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat. Remove the cinnamon sticks, orange slices, and star anise (reserve a cinnamon stick for garnish).
  4. Stir in the cinnamon whiskey. Taste and adjust sweetness with honey or maple syrup if desired, or add more whiskey for a stronger kick.
  5. Ladle into mugs and garnish with a fresh cinnamon stick and an orange slice if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

For a non-alcoholic version, omit the whiskey and add an extra cinnamon stick, a few whole cloves, and a slice of fresh ginger. For a party, multiply the recipe and keep warm in a slow cooker on ‘warm’ setting, adding whiskey just before serving. Toast cinnamon sticks in a dry skillet for 30 seconds per side to deepen flavor.
