A dramatic and delicious Halloween charcuterie board that looks like a spider web, made with salami, pepperoni, cheeses, and olive spiders. Ready in 20 minutes with no cooking required.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large round wooden board or platter (12–16 inches)
  • 1 cup black olives, pitted
  • 1 cup green olives stuffed with pimento
  • 8 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, sliced into thin triangles
  • 8 ounces Gouda or Edam cheese, sliced
  • 6 ounces fresh mozzarella pearls
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 8 ounces hard salami, thinly sliced
  • 8 ounces pepperoni, thinly sliced
  • 6 ounces prosciutto (optional)
  • 12 whole black olives, pitted (for spiders)
  • 24 chive pieces or thin pretzel sticks (for spider legs)
  • 1 small jar red pepper jelly or hot honey
  • 1 box of crackers
  • 1 cup grapes, red or green
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin seeds, roasted and salted
  • Fresh rosemary sprigs for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare your board: Place your platter on the counter. If using a wooden board, wipe it clean with a damp cloth. Arrange small bowls for red pepper jelly, pumpkin seeds, and extra olives at the edges.
  2. Create the cream cheese center: Spoon the softened cream cheese into a small mound in the exact center of the board. Spread it into a rough circle about 4 inches across.
  3. Build the web strands with salami and pepperoni: Cut salami and pepperoni slices into long, thin strips about 1/2 inch wide. Starting from the cream cheese center, lay the strips outward like spokes on a wheel, spacing them about 2 inches apart at the outer edge. You should have 8 to 10 spokes total. Press the inner ends gently into the cream cheese.
  4. Weave the circular web lines: Take shorter strips of salami and pepperoni and lay them across the spokes in concentric circles, starting about 2 inches from the center and working outward. Each circle should be about 2 inches apart. The strips should curve slightly to mimic a real web.
  5. Add the cheese and accompaniments: Arrange cheddar triangles, Gouda slices, and mozzarella pearls in the gaps between the web strands. Scatter grapes and pumpkin seeds around the edges. Tuck fresh rosemary sprigs here and there.
  6. Make the spiders: Take 12 whole black olives. For each spider, insert 4 chive pieces or pretzel sticks into each side of the olive to create 8 legs. Place the spiders on the cheese or directly on the web strands.
  7. Final touches: Place the small bowl of red pepper jelly near the center. Drizzle a little hot honey over the cream cheese if desired. Add a few extra crackers around the edges.

Notes

The spiders can be made up to 24 hours ahead and stored in an airtight container in the fridge. The web design holds up well for about 2 hours at room temperature before the meats start to curl. If serving later, assemble the board without the meats and add them 30 minutes before guests arrive. For perfect web strands, microwave salami slices for 10 seconds on a paper towel to make them pliable.
