These easy freezer-friendly ham and cheese pinwheels are a versatile, make-ahead snack perfect for busy days. Made with pizza dough, ham, cream cheese, and cheddar, they come together in about 30 minutes and can be frozen for later.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 8 oz ham, thinly sliced
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • Optional: Everything bagel seasoning or sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix until smooth and well combined.
  3. Lightly flour your work surface and rolling pin. Roll the pizza dough into a rectangle about 12×10 inches.
  4. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a ½-inch border around the edges.
  5. Arrange the ham slices over the cream cheese, overlapping slightly.
  6. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar evenly over the ham and press down gently.
  7. Starting from one long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Pinch the seam to seal.
  8. Slice the log into 12 even pieces, about 1 inch thick. Place each pinwheel cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
  9. Brush the tops and sides of each pinwheel with melted butter. Sprinkle with everything bagel seasoning or sesame seeds if desired.
  10. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes, until puffed up and golden brown. Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For freezing: After slicing, freeze unbaked pinwheels on a baking sheet for 1-2 hours, then transfer to a freezer bag. Bake from frozen, adding 3-5 minutes to the baking time. Let baked pinwheels rest 5 minutes before serving to allow cheese to set.
