A quick and easy side dish or appetizer featuring fresh green beans wrapped in thin-cut bacon and coated with a sweet brown sugar glaze. Perfect for picky eaters and holiday gatherings, this recipe comes together in under 30 minutes with simple ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 12–16 slices thin-cut bacon
  • 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • Olive oil spray (optional, for baking sheet)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil. Place a wire rack on top if available.
  2. Rinse green beans under cold water and pat dry. Trim stem ends. Group into bundles of 5-7 beans each, about thumb thickness.
  3. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, garlic powder, and black pepper. Mix well.
  4. Wrap one slice of bacon around the middle of each green bean bundle, stretching slightly. Place seam-side down on the wire rack or baking sheet.
  5. Sprinkle brown sugar mixture evenly over each bundle, patting gently to adhere.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes, rotating the pan halfway through. Bacon should be crispy and golden brown, and sugar bubbly and caramelized.
  7. Let rest on the rack for 2-3 minutes before serving. Serve warm.

Notes

Use thin-cut bacon for best results; thick-cut takes too long to cook. Pat green beans dry to avoid steaming. If not using a wire rack, flip bundles halfway through cooking. Watch the sugar in the last 5 minutes to prevent burning. For a crowd, double the recipe and use two pans.
