These easy mummy hot dogs are a fun and delicious Halloween snack made with just four simple ingredients. Wrapped in flaky crescent dough with mustard eyes, they’re perfect for parties and guaranteed to be a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 hot dogs (preferably beef)
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • Mustard for the eyes (yellow mustard recommended)
  • Ketchup or marinara for dipping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the crescent dough onto a cutting board. If using perforated triangle-style dough, pinch all the seams together to form one solid sheet.
  3. Cut the dough lengthwise into thin strips about 1/2 inch wide, yielding about 8-10 strips per sheet.
  4. Take one hot dog and start wrapping a strip of dough around it at a slight angle, leaving small gaps (about 1/4 to 1/2 inch) between each wrap. Leave about 1/2 inch of the hot dog exposed at one end for the face and a small bit at the other end for the feet.
  5. Press the dough ends gently to secure them against the hot dog. Place the wrapped hot dog on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about an inch of space between each one.
  6. Repeat with the remaining hot dogs and dough strips. You should get 8 mummy hot dogs from one can of dough.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and puffed and the hot dogs are heated through. Start checking at 10 minutes.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool for 2-3 minutes on the baking sheet.
  9. Dip a toothpick into yellow mustard and dot two small eyes onto the exposed ‘face’ end of each mummy.
  10. Serve immediately with ketchup, marinara, or extra mustard for dipping.

Notes

Don’t over-wrap the hot dogs; leave gaps for an authentic mummy look. Cold dough is easier to work with. Add mustard eyes right before serving to prevent bleeding. For air fryer, cook at 350°F for 6-8 minutes. Can be assembled up to 4 hours in advance and refrigerated before baking.
