Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 6 Christmas tree cakes, chopped
  • 1/2 cup vanilla sprinkles (jimmies)
  • Green food coloring (gel preferred)
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips, melted (optional, for drizzle)
  • Pretzel sticks (for serving)
  • Graham crackers (for serving)
  • Vanilla wafers (for serving)
  • Apple slices (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Soften cream cheese and butter by letting them sit at room temperature for 30-40 minutes, or microwave in 10-second intervals until soft but not melted.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat softened cream cheese and butter on medium speed until smooth and creamy, about 2-3 minutes. Scrape down sides of bowl.
  3. With mixer on low speed, gradually add powdered sugar, about 1/4 cup at a time, to prevent a sugar cloud. Once all added, increase speed to medium and beat for 2 minutes until light and fluffy.
  4. Add vanilla extract and salt; mix on low until combined, about 30 seconds. Taste and adjust sweetness if desired.
  5. Add 2-3 drops of green gel food coloring and mix well. Add more until desired shade of Christmas green is reached.
  6. Reserve about 1/4 cup of chopped Christmas tree cakes for topping. Gently fold remaining chopped cakes into the dip with a spatula, being careful not to overmix.
  7. Fold in about 1/3 cup of vanilla sprinkles, reserving the rest for garnish.
  8. Spoon dip into a serving bowl and spread evenly. Create swirls on top with the back of a spatula.
  9. Garnish with reserved chopped cake pieces, remaining vanilla sprinkles, and optional drizzle of melted white chocolate.
  10. Serve immediately with dippers of choice, or refrigerate for 30 minutes to firm up.

Notes

For best results, ensure cream cheese and butter are properly softened. Gel food coloring gives a more vibrant color without thinning the dip. The dip can be made a day in advance and refrigerated; add garnishes just before serving. For a dairy-free version, use dairy-free cream cheese and butter. For gluten-free, use certified gluten-free Christmas tree cakes. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days, or frozen for up to 2 months.
