A fun and easy Halloween snack featuring ghost-shaped bananas, fresh fruit, and a creamy yogurt dip. Perfect for parties and getting kids excited about eating fruit.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 large bananas (firm but ripe)
  • 2 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1 cup red seedless grapes
  • 1 cup green seedless grapes
  • 1 cup strawberries (hulled and halved)
  • 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup dried cranberries or raisins (optional)
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt (full-fat or 2%)
  • 2 tablespoons honey (or maple syrup for vegan)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (pure)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Make the yogurt dip: In a small bowl, combine Greek yogurt, honey, vanilla extract, and cinnamon. Whisk until smooth. Cover and refrigerate.
  2. Prepare the ghost bananas: Peel bananas and slice into 1-inch thick rounds. Use a small round cookie cutter or apple corer to gently press a circle into the center of each round (about halfway through) to create a ghost shape.
  3. Add ghost eyes: Press two mini chocolate chips, pointed side down, into the top of each banana round to form eyes. Use a dab of honey on a toothpick if needed to help them stick.
  4. Prep remaining fruit: Core apples and slice into thin wedges. Rinse and dry grapes. Hull strawberries and slice in half lengthwise.
  5. Arrange the platter: Place the bowl of yogurt dip in the center of a large serving platter. Arrange fruit around it in a circular pattern, grouping ghost bananas together.
  6. Add spooky touches: Sprinkle dried cranberries or raisins around the platter. Add extra chocolate chips if desired.
  7. Serve immediately or chill: Best served within 1 hour of assembly. If making ahead, prep fruit and dip separately and assemble just before serving.

Notes

To prevent banana browning, brush cut surfaces with lemon or pineapple juice. Serve fruit and dip cold. For a vegan version, use coconut yogurt and maple syrup. The dip can be made up to 24 hours in advance and improves in flavor.
