Sparkling Cranberry Ginger Mocktail - featured image

A bright, bubbly, and refreshing mocktail made with fresh cranberries, ginger, and sparkling water. Perfect for any occasion, from holiday parties to casual Tuesdays, this easy drink comes together in under 10 minutes with simple ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup (about 60g) fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 1-inch piece (about 15g) fresh ginger, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) fresh lime juice (from about 1 lime)
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons (15-30ml) honey or maple syrup, to taste
  • 1 cup (240ml) chilled sparkling water (plain, high-quality like San Pellegrino or Topo Chico)
  • Ice cubes (large cubes preferred)
  • Optional garnishes: fresh rosemary sprigs, lime wheels, or extra cranberries

Instructions

  1. Prep your ingredients: Peel the ginger using the edge of a spoon, then slice into thin rounds (about 1/8-inch thick). Cut the lime in half and juice it. Measure out the cranberries.
  2. Muddle the cranberries and ginger: Place the cranberries and sliced ginger in the bottom of a pitcher or cocktail shaker. Add the lime juice and 1 tablespoon of honey or maple syrup. Using a muddler or the back of a wooden spoon, gently press and twist until crushed and fragrant (about 30 seconds). The mixture should look like a chunky, ruby-red paste.
  3. Let it sit: Allow the muddled mixture to rest for 2-3 minutes so the flavors meld.
  4. Strain the mixture: Place a fine-mesh strainer over a clean bowl or directly over your serving glass. Pour the muddled mixture through the strainer, pressing gently on the solids with a spoon to extract all liquid. Discard the solids. You should have about 3-4 tablespoons of concentrated syrup.
  5. Assemble the drink: Fill your serving glass with ice cubes. Pour the strained cranberry-ginger syrup over the ice. Slowly top with chilled sparkling water, pouring it down the side of the glass to preserve bubbles. Stir gently with a long spoon (2-3 rotations). Taste and adjust sweetness with remaining honey or maple syrup if desired.
  6. Garnish and serve: Add a sprig of fresh rosemary, a lime wheel, or a few floating cranberries. Serve immediately while cold and bubbly.

Notes

Don’t over-muddle the cranberries to avoid bitterness. Use ice-cold sparkling water for best fizz. The cranberry-ginger syrup can be made up to 3 days ahead and stored in the refrigerator. For a spicier kick, add a thin slice of jalapeño to the muddling mixture. For an adult version, add 1-2 ounces of vodka, gin, or white rum.
