A creamy, spicy, and surprisingly healthy buffalo chicken dip made with cottage cheese and Greek yogurt. This easy recipe is perfect for game day or any gathering, delivering all the flavor with less guilt.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup cottage cheese (full-fat preferred, but low-fat works)
  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 4 oz reduced-fat cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup buffalo sauce (e.g., Frank’s RedHot)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups cooked, shredded chicken (rotisserie or leftover grilled)
  • 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons crumbled blue cheese (optional)
  • Fresh chives or green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease an 8×8 inch baking dish lightly with cooking spray or olive oil.
  2. In a food processor or blender, combine the cottage cheese and plain Greek yogurt. Blend for 30-45 seconds, scraping down the sides as needed, until completely smooth and creamy.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, blended cottage cheese mixture, buffalo sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Stir until well combined and smooth.
  4. Fold in the shredded chicken until evenly distributed throughout the sauce.
  5. Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish. Smooth the top with a spatula.
  6. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top, followed by the crumbled blue cheese if using.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the dip is bubbly around the edges and the cheese on top is melted and lightly golden.
  8. Let the dip rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh chives or green onions.

Notes

Blend the cottage cheese thoroughly to avoid lumps. Use room temperature cream cheese for easier mixing. Shred your own cheese for better melting. Adjust the heat by adding more buffalo sauce to taste. The dip can be assembled up to 24 hours in advance (without toppings) and refrigerated; add 5-10 minutes to baking time if starting from cold.
