These Quick Spooky Spider Deviled Eggs are a fun and easy Halloween treat that comes together in under 20 minutes. With simple ingredients like eggs, mayo, and olives, they’re perfect for parties or a weeknight surprise.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 large eggs, hard-boiled and peeled
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika, plus more for garnish
  • 12 whole black olives, pitted

Instructions

  1. Hard-boil the eggs: Place the 6 eggs in a medium saucepan and cover with cold water by about an inch. Bring to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, cover the pan, remove from heat, and let sit for 10 minutes. Drain and transfer to a bowl of ice water for 5 minutes.
  2. Peel the eggs: Gently tap each egg on the counter to crack the shell, then roll it between your palms to loosen. Peel under running cold water for best results. Pat dry with a paper towel.
  3. Slice the eggs: Cut each egg in half lengthwise. Carefully remove the yolks and place them in a mixing bowl. Arrange the egg white halves on a serving platter, cut-side up.
  4. Make the filling: Add 3 tablespoons mayonnaise, 1 teaspoon yellow mustard, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1/8 teaspoon black pepper, and 1/4 teaspoon paprika to the yolks. Mash with a fork until smooth and creamy. Taste and adjust seasoning.
  5. Fill the eggs: Spoon the filling into a piping bag (or a zip-top bag with a corner snipped) and pipe into each egg white half. Alternatively, use a small spoon to fill them. Don’t overfill—leave a little room for the olive legs.
  6. Prepare the olive legs: Slice each whole black olive lengthwise into 4 thin strips. You’ll need 4 strips per spider (8 legs total per egg).
  7. Assemble the spiders: Place 4 olive strips on each side of the deviled egg yolk filling to create the legs. Gently press them into the filling so they stay in place. For the spider body, place one whole olive on top of the filling in the center.
  8. Garnish and serve: Sprinkle a tiny bit of paprika over the spiders for a ‘spooky’ effect. Serve immediately or refrigerate until ready to serve.

Notes

For best results, use eggs that are at least a week old for easier peeling. If the filling is too soft, refrigerate assembled eggs for 10-15 minutes to firm up before serving. The olive legs may slide if the filling is too soft, so pressing them in gently helps.
