Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large round serving platter or pizza pan (at least 12 inches wide)
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 large cucumber, sliced into thin rounds
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced into thin strips
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced into thin strips
  • 1 orange bell pepper, sliced into thin strips
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 cup cauliflower florets
  • 1 cup baby carrots
  • 1/2 cup black olives, sliced
  • 1/4 cup fresh chives or green onion tops
  • 1 small sugar pumpkin or gourd for decoration (optional)
  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 packet ranch seasoning mix (or 2 tablespoons homemade blend)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried dill)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Make the ranch dip first: In a small mixing bowl, combine Greek yogurt, sour cream, ranch seasoning mix, lemon juice, garlic powder, black pepper, fresh dill, and parsley. Whisk until smooth. Cover and refrigerate while prepping vegetables.
  2. Wash and dry all vegetables thoroughly. Pat dry with paper towels.
  3. Slice cucumber into thin rounds, about 1/4 inch thick. Set aside.
  4. Slice bell peppers into thin strips, about 1/4 inch wide. Keep colors separate.
  5. Halve cherry tomatoes lengthwise. Set aside.
  6. Cut broccoli and cauliflower into small florets.
  7. Slice black olives in half lengthwise for spider bodies. Cut chives into 1-inch pieces for spider legs.
  8. Place the round platter on the counter. Put the small dip bowl in the center.
  9. Arrange cucumber slices in concentric rings around the dip bowl, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Create 3-4 rings total.
  10. Lay bell pepper strips from the dip bowl outward to the edge of the platter like spokes on a wheel, spacing evenly (about 8 spokes). Alternate colors.
  11. Fill the sections between spokes with remaining vegetables, grouping by color. Leave space for the web pattern to show.
  12. Place 3-4 olive halves around the web to look like spiders. Add chive pieces for legs (4 on each side).
  13. Fill the dip bowl with the ranch dip. Garnish with fresh dill or chives if desired. Serve immediately or refrigerate until ready.

Notes

For best results, prep the dip first and let it chill while chopping vegetables. Assemble the tray no more than 2 hours before serving. Pat vegetables dry to prevent sliding. Use a round platter for the best web design. The dip can be made up to 2 days ahead.
